The Coalition to Prevent VTE
The Coalition to Prevent VTE, based in London, UK, was founded towards the end of 2006 by Dr Alexander (Ander) Cohen, of King’s College Hospital and King’s College School of Medicine, London.
The Coalition’s Core Group, composed of 12 physicians and surgeons representing the various sub-specialities that encounter patients at risk of VTE, met for the first time early in 2007 to discuss and set the main objectives of the Coalition. They are all active members or representatives of diverse European scientific and medical societies.
Because the Coalition to Prevent VTE is a non-profit organization awaiting charitable status, the Coalition Core Group governance is overseen by an independent Trustee Board.
